Mikumi National Park is Tanzania’s fourth-largest national park and the most easily accessible from Dar es Salaam and Morogoro. It spans 3,230km² (1,250mi²) and is situated along the main highway to Zambia, and en route to the Udzungwa Mountains, Ruaha and Kitulo National Parks. Mikumi hosts large herds of impalas, zebras, buffaloes, giraffes, and elephants, and predators like lions, hyenas, pythons, leopards, and crocodiles to name a few.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Depart from Morogoro Train Station to Mikumi National Park

Embark on morning drive to Mikumi National Park from Morogoro train station. Kick off your full-day safari adventure through the park, where you’ll have the thrilling opportunity to observe an array of wildlife and beautiful landscapes. Around midday, pause for a well-earned break and enjoy lunch at Mikumi Cottage, nestled inside the park, before taking a short rest. In the afternoon, your journey resumes with more wildlife encounters, concluding with a breathtaking sunset painting the savannah in golden hues.

Day 2: Mikumi National Park Short Game Drive

Enjoy an early morning breakfast, followed by a short game drive in the national park. Visit the Maasai cultural boma and get to learn from one of the most unique and preserved cultures from ancient times in Africa. Enjoy a drive back to Morogoro town, passing through the national park for another look on the animals. End your tour at Morogoro town.
